I am going to keep this vacuum after trying several others. It works really really well and it has a height setting which I like. The suction of the hose is amazing, however when using attachments it’s hard to not to move the suction adjuster ring just with regular use because it’s right where you hold the hose to use it so it moves a lot. It’s also heavy and difficult to lift if you need to lift it over a gate, stairs, or over the cord. It’s difficult to maneuver around so you kind of have to take back-and-forth movements rather than turning movements. However even with the negatives it has great power and it works really well to clean hardwood floor and carpet. The bag lasts for a long time too, I’ve been using it daily for a few weeks and still on the first bag, so overall I am happy with it.After using a Hoover Windtunnel for 10+ years, it was time for a new vacuum. We no longer have pets, but have 2 daughters who seem to shed their fair share of hair. So I was looking for a hard sucking vacuum. Based on the reviews, I went with this one and just got it delivered today. I assembled it (only took 10 min) and did my first test drive with it. My initial comments are...1. it's seems to be much quieter than my Hoover. 2. The vacuum is a sucking beast...love it. 3. It seems heavier than my Hoover...which had self propel, but it doesn't seem like it. It maneuvers quite easily. 4. There's not a lot of bells and whistles or attachments with this one, but it has one job...to suck dirt out of carpets...which it does extremely well. It's a good looking model to. I will give an update once I've used it for a month or two.The power cord on my same model broke after years of excellent service. Sears did not have the part. So I purchased a new one. The old vacuum was a bit more powerful, but the new and exact same machine is the best vacuum Is pretty good. That’s why I purchased it again. It’s a monster. Sucks aliens from your rug. There’s attachments. It is awkward to use the wand for certain jobs. Forget cleaning ceiling dust or high window areas, unless you can lift and hold this barbell of a machine. The machine is for the floor. You want power. This is it. You want tough this is it. You want flexibility and beauty- this is NOT it. Don’t leave anything in plain view …. This machine will eat it. Very heavy and powerful. I love it.This vacuum is a dream machine! Not for weak arms but does a great job cleaning the floor! Has options for hard/carpet. All the attachments fit easily on the machine, and set-up was a snap. If you’re over all those eco bagless things, this will do the trick. I’ve only ever tolerated my bagless machines (just like the low water washing machines that I swapped out for fill-to-the-top Sp—d Qu—n), but this bad boy I actually am proud to own! This was a replacement for the one I purchased 18 years ago. I was happy to have found the same thing.I originally purchased this based on a comprehensive Consumer Reports article on vacuum cleaners. I had it for 5 years with heavy, daily usage for 5 kids and multiple indoor pets. I ordered a new one on May 22, 2021 and my previous 5 star review is now a 3. See below.Overall, it is an awesome straight forward vacuum. Excellent suction, decent cord length, and a work horse. I prefer Bagged options and I do splurge to get the cloth vacuum bags for this model. I change the bag once a month with daily vacuuming. The hose is shorter than I would like but with daily use, one learns to navigate to offset the slight inconvenience. We have a very old house with high ceilings so there is no hose that will eloquently reach those ceiling corners anyway! There are no belts to replace! Severed belts were my downfall with previous vacuums and for years, there was only minor maintenance on this Kenmore to keep it running and happy! The suction and power- awesome! It goes between various carpet piles and uneven thresholds easily and provides the same great pick up power regardless of material. It is heavy in the sense that my 11 year old would slam it into the legs of my grandmother's table with little effort so that would be a caution for anyone with family heirlooms or preteens that hurry through their chores. (I got a Samsung robot for that room and I vacuum it once a week with the Kenmore to save the table and chair legs from disgruntled youth.)Fast forward to May of 2022, when my second one was a year old and the powerhead roller brush stopped working. There is nothing stuck. The suction on the hose and the bare floor option is still great. The brush just won't roll. One year is not good enough for me. I'm not interested in disposable appliances.I'm at a crossroads. If the original model was rebuilt to have a shorter life span, I'm not sure a $322 price tag is in my budget for a yearly investment. I'm very disappointed and unsure how to fix it. We live in an area that no longer has service centers and so I am unsure of the time, energy and cost associated with fixing it.I reached out to Kenmore customer service and will provide updates on the issue and the process.Sweeping hard to get areas like my car and under furniture. It was rated highly in Consumer Reports and I concur. This vacuum is awesome. Anyone purchasing it won't be disappointed. It is a bit heavy for me but not unmanageable. Easy to assemble and easy to use. Thank-you.A little bit heavy but works great
