I used to use the attachment to my household vac, but it's a pain to get the thing out, hook up the little attachment, etc. This portable vacuum lets me do it with far fewer steps - easy to get out of my closet and do the job.I list the small size as both a pro and a con. If you want a small unit, you are going to give up some power - so small is good but make sure you don't expect it to do the job of a larger vacuum.It seems to do just fine with the task I'm asking it to do.
